Quinta Vila Rachel

Quinta Vila Rachel is a family owned estate localized in the Douro Valley Region in Portugal. It was founded by the famous Portuguese Sculptor José Joaquim Teixeira Lopes, by his wife Rachel Pereira de Meireles (from which the name of the Estate come from) and their siblings António Teixeira Lopes e José Teixeira Lopes, also a famous Sculptor and Architect respectively.

Quinta Vila Rachel is located in the Tua River Valley, which is an affluent of the Douro River, in the heart of the Douro Region.

Although the vineyards dominate the lanscapes in their estates, they are surrounded by extensive organic olive tree groves. You can also find cypresses, orange trees, apple trees, walnut trees, pine trees, arbutus trees and many others.

Tiago Cartageno, the owner practices organic farming and he’s keen to assert the great respect for the soil and all of Nature’s elements. He is vocal against the use of products like herbicides, which poison the soils and the crops and as a result, also the health of the Vila Rachel wine drinkers.
