Herdade do Cebolal
Herdade do Cebolal is located on the Alentejo coast, in the village of Vale das Éguas in the municipality of Santiago do Cacém. Since 1890, the family estate has been passed on from generation to generation, being currently managed by the 4th and 5th generation: Isabel and her son Luís Lufinha Mota Capitão. Knowledge, transmitted over generations, strengthened by values, ethics, responsibility and respect for man and nature, gives rise to this heritage. They are wine artisans, respecting the authenticity of our terroir, which translates into wines with personality.
At Herdade do Cebolal, Luis Mota Capitão practices a Syntropic Agriculture or Agroforestry. This is constituted by a theoretical and practical set of an agriculture model developed by Ernst Götsch, in which natural processes are translated by agricultural practices both in their form and in their function and dynamics. We talk of regeneration through the use of productive agricultural areas that lead to the independence from raw material inputs and irrigation, resulting in the balance of ecosystems, with special emphasis on soil formation, microclimate regulation and facilitation of the water cycle.
